What is the best practice to manage balance sheet recon work? Process; Balance Sheet Recon is prepared by Staff, approved by a Manager -- both in house. Is this 1 task in the work that is assigned to the staff member, then reassigns to the manager and update the status to awaiting approval?Or two tasks so the staff member can mark each recon complete & the manager has to monitor the work to know what is ready to review?
We started using Karbon (actually IPM powered by Karbon) in June for our clients on extension and our ongoing accounting clients. For the tax work - we used the Proconnect templates and imported the tax returns from ITO. We are in the process of updating all the tax templates now that we had the ability to work with the system. And that leads to my questions about best practices. Some of the template details will change for us year to year as we plan to have clients click off client request tasks regarding that year’s due dates and pricing. As such we don’t plan on setting up repeating work for annual tax returns. I am curious if setting up work for each year’s tax return is a better idea than having to update the repeating client work each year. It seems about the same level of effort to me, but I just wanted to see if I may be missing a bigger picture on this. A similar but slightly different take on opening tax season - do you create the returns in ITO and then import each year
I have cleared an email from Karbon no less than a dozen times. It keeps popping back up in my Triage….It’s not because I am being tagged or someone is replying to the email, it’s the same thread with all of the same info and it just won’t stay away. Its very frustrating. Thank you!
Can someone explain to me about this “allocated” budget thing? See image below. So for Isabel, she ‘s got 5h assigned in work items assigned to her. ok. But for Haley, what the heck is she budgeted for for the month? There are 61.5 hours of “work items” with her name on them, but what about the tasks in those work items that she doesn’t do? Like if she “owns” the month-end close, but a bookkeeper and reviewer do some of the tasks inside of the close work item, does she still have all of those budget hours assigned to her? Which makes no sense, because she’s not doing those hours. And what is this allocated? Is this additional time assigned to her on top of the 61.5? Maybe it’s say, review hours inside of someone else’s close work item?Shouldn’t there be a straightforward way to see how many hours Haley is budgeted to work for the month?
HI,We have some clients that we do their bookkeeping and we want to send them client requests. However, the email address associated with that client is one with our domain, and Karbon does not allow client requests to be sent to addresses with your own domain.I was wondering if you have the same issue and how you are getting around that. Thank you
How are other firms “cleaning up” their reoccurring work that is waiting on client requests? I have open work items for 9 months (Jan - Sep) that is waiting on statements of some sort from the client. They now have 9 different check-lists open and my dashboard is cluttered. How are you managing open work items?
Is there a way for my admin to manage my triage in box? (A pre-triage, if you will)? I would love to have my admin pair down my inbox for me…. In the same way that colleges can see “my week”, can I also set up the ability for my admin to toggle between my triage and their own? (this would also be great for expected team absences, such as vacations…)
Hi allProbably user error but, as we work through our 2022 annual accounts jobs I am setting them up as a recurring annual job, all repeating in May 2022, and the Create Work date is 3 months before it starts. The reasoning being 1st February next year we can spend some time planning for when to schedule these jobs in and then move the due dates as appropriate. The problem is. as we have finished the 2022 jobs, I have a heap that have already gone and created themsevles. I can go into those jobs, look at the repeat, it def says starts 1 May, create work 3 months before it starts, create tasks 1 day before it starts, yet there are all these 2023 jobs on our annuals list. So frustrating. I know I could set the filter to try and exclude jobs starting after 1st February 2023 but my question is why are the jobs creating now and ignoring the instructions?

My client wants to be able to view his client task which relates to payroll and timesheets/hours. He provides us in the comments the hours his staff has worked but wants to be able to go back and view his response.Once the Work Item has been completed, does this mean that he can’t access that anymore?I have created a test Work Item with Acme Corporation and noticed that when I communicate, the client doesn’t receive a new email with any additional comments. Is this the norm?
How do I add my clients contacts to Karbon so I can see who they work with and be able to contact them. For example, the insurance agent, banker, CPA, etc. I want to pull up a client and see all related contacts for them. But I have several cleints who use the same people so I want the contact to be able to be on all records for each client.
We have developed a full cycle new hire process within Karbon. For full time employees we have 5 work items that drive the onboarding, training (general and team training), and collaboration with people ops and hiring managers. We have inserted much of what used to be manual into this process, with videos and full instructional tasks, protected what needed to be protected, and automated much of the repetitive training. This process has allowed the orientation team to foster the “welcome to the team” feel with meetings to get to know them, Q&A, meet the team and a coffee shop/lunch type of conversation instead of the stale chats of HR, software onboarding, etc.Interested in hearing what other Karbon users have done to incorporate their team onboarding as we are always looking to improve.
Is it possible to turn the red dot that shows on the upper right corner on the Triage button on or off?I find that I’d like to have that red dot hidden. As when I’m working in Karbon sometimes it distracts me to see that red dot there and I feel compelled to click into the Triage when in fact it would be best if I would just stick to the task in front of me.
