Hello I’m looking for a best practice clearing my triage. Tasks that are part of a recurring work and assigned to a colleague will come to me for questions. I can’t assign it to myself, nor add to my week and end up keeping these questions in my triage until I can address them. Is there a better way to handle this situation?
So… I am wondering if I accidentally changed a setting in Karbon. It used to be, when I used the filters in Karbon, let’s say I filtered by a specific client, to see all the work items for the client. If I selected a work item to look at the details, I could go back to the work section with my filter still active (I could still see all the work for that specific client). NOW, when I do this, my filter disappears and I have to filter all over again, it’s frustrating and wasting so much timeOddly, if I use one of my saved views, select a work item, look at it, and go back out to work, my filter is still there. It seems in the past few months, it has been like this. But, it did this once before, and then it went back to saving my filters when I went in and out, and now it’s back to not saving the filter. Not sure if it’s a cache issue, or Karbon doesn’t keep the filter anymore if you go somewhere else and come back unless it’s a saved view. But I don’t like this and hope there is a wa
Hi Everyone, George from Karbon here 👋.I’m conducting a little survey on how people are feeling about social networking - especially twitter and their plans for tweeting in 2023. If you have an account. I’d appreciate a vote in the 👉 poll 👈 If not, I’d still be interested to hear you take on the state of social networking, how twitter’s acquisition affects your plans (if at all) and what you’re planning for 2023 in the social space. All the best.G
We currently have our staff assigned to organizations and then work items. We have to go into the organization and invite the staff member to each individual contact that is within that organization. Every time we have to swap a staff member to another organization, we feel like it’s so many steps. Is there a better way to be doing this? When we assign a staff member to the organization, shouldn’t it automatically assign them the contacts as well? There is a teams portion of Karbon that we are not using. Is this something that would accomplish that? Any input is greatly appreciated! I am going to watch more videos too but figured the Karbon community is the best place to get the answers we look for!
Currently if we assign someone a role for a task in a work item, the work item appears in their My Week, even if the work is not with them currently.I understand some people like to know what work they have coming up, however some people really don’t cope well with this, especially admin staff who have a role in almost every piece of work that gets created. Is there a way to stop seeing work in My Week where a task is not actively assigned to you? Other than just applying a filter?Clearing out jobs sitting on Planned etc takes up a good chunk of admins day.
Is anyone using the new billing feature in Karbon? We bill mostly by time not fixed fee still and finding it tricky to get the information - more than just the work title or the external item name on to the invoice. We plan to export invoices to QBO to manage debtors there so maybe we need to work on getting the integration there correct. Can anyone shed any light please?
Hi Karbon community & API users - The Karbon API is growing in popularity and use - we’re still a way away from that popularity impacting the speed and availability of the API, but we’re conscious that at some point we will need to address this and don’t want it to come as a shock to anyone. We’d love your thoughts on API rate limiting and performance - but for now the sorts of limits we’re proposing would be something like:10,000 requests per day per Karbon account/API application key a maximum of 60 requests per minuteWhere the limit is exceeded, we’ll respond with a different HTTP status code (429) and a header telling you when you can try again.Specific questions:Have you ever had to deal with API rate limiting before? Would these limits cause you issues? Are there behaviours in the API today that cause you to send more requests? Are there any performance (e.g. response speed) issues that impact your API use today? Many thanks,Stuart
Is there a way to copy all tasks in a client request to excel (or word doc) other than going into each task and copying them one by one?A client is having trouble using Karbon and we need to request information from them ASAP, how can I copy the tasks in one shot to place in a regular email?
Hello community - this may be a silly question but does anyone know how to set up work in Karbon so that my colleagues can only enter a certain task type on their timesheets?Would this setting work on a work template? With existing recurring work, how can I apply this setting?Any help would be much appreciated!
Is it possible to assign to a Team instead of just to a Colleague? We have a few different Teams, for a mix of Client Teams, Department Teams etc. and it would be helpful if emails or tasks could be assigned to the Team as a whole instead of the individual (to start). This process happens already in some cases using the Team Tag. However, would work better with our processes if tasks or Work could be assigned to a Team (think repeat work/task creation) then can be assigned to the individual from here.
I'm familiar a bit with API, but I never worked with webhooks, can any share instructions on how to create one? Here is what I want to do, we have a database (Google sheet & Airtable) with all our clients, and it's intergraded with Poser BI, where we have multiple dashboards in Power BI. Currently, I need to update the database manually, and I'm looking to automate this through a webhook.Thank you
I am curious if others do this, utilize Karbon (or something else)…At one point we compiled a list of client qualities and then ranked clients on that list with a 1-10 point value. We are looking to hopefully “process-ify” this when we are fully using Karbon. We would hope to aggregate the client ranking score by employees who spend the most time on that client. We are trying to hone in on our more “ideal client” design and ensure we are not penalizing good clients by having too many “bad” clients on our books. Do you rank clients?Do you designate client “tiers” in Karbon (via client type, client group, etc.)?What is your ongoing frequency for this to ensure groups are adjusted properly?
why can’t i get a zap to pull a project from Karbon? If i create a project in Karbon, there is no way to run a zap to pull that data from Karbon and then create an external list in Excel or some other program of all projects that i have.more and more i’m getting very frustrated with karbon.
For many things we do, we might need to enter a clients bank account and routing numbers in order to pay something (mostly taxes). We currently keep that data on a physical sheet in our office. Ofcourse, when someone is sick and is working from home, this becomes a problem.I’ve seen people recommend lastpass to store passwords, but it doesn’t seem to include things outside of passwords like this. So, how are people handling this? Our salesperson showed us the karbon security page https://karbonhq.com/security/ and said putting that information in a repeating task is actual secure. Since most logins are 2factor anyway, we have not been using Lastpass for passwords and instead just putting them in the Karbon task, but we haven’t yet moved account numbers or other things that wouldn’t have that 2factor authorization when using.
Hello all! We are wanting to move towards use of the time, budgets and future billing features of karbon. When we moved to karbon a year ago we also moved to QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Time for our time and billing process. For various reasons billing in QuickBooks Online is not working well for us. The main reason we did not initially go with karbon for time was the lack of seeing and editing start and stop times, only having time duration. How do other firms work around this? It seems for DOL purposes that we should have a record of when an employee starts work and ends for the day and has a lunch break, etc. Do you use karbon timeclock for limited purposes and use another app for time for payroll, etc.? Or, am I missing something? Is there a workaround to track/notate the start and stop times? I think I need to show other managers in our firm the positives of having the time entered in karbon for productivity and budget measurement and planning purposes, but I will ne
I’d love to have our AML checks and client risk assessments showing in Karbon - perhaps on the client’s contact details section? This may involve integration with Companies House - adding all client data automatically by entering the business registration number, like name, address, Annual Accounts periods, Confirmation Statement due date, Directors and Shareholders. Based on this and any changes on Companies House, we can generate and set up our Annual Accounts work in Karbon (for automation) and run AML client ID verifications. We recently started using a platform called Yoti for this and it’s fantastic and very user friendly (also from the client’s perspective).
Hi, I was wondering what’s the best way to save documents for a client? Should I be using Karbon and Google drive or can all the info be saved to Karbon in one place? I noticed you can attach documents to a client’s work item but after the work item is complete are those documents archived?
issueI get 4005 (when I modify the structure) or 5001 (when I run according to documentation) when trying to add a work schedule via POST request.detailsThe documentation seems a little light (didn’t include a few fields I thought would be necessary), and I’m getting an internal server error whenever I try to add a work schedule.I performed a GET request on an existing work schedule I want to repeat. I am using the values from that get to populate my template POST request.troubleshootingAfter my first attempts didn’t work, I added WorkItemTitleDisplayText and AssigneeUserKey. They are not added in the documentation, but perhaps they must be added/updated via PUT once the schedule creates. I noticed that the GET request returns a JSON element as a string. I de-escaped it to see if the API expected JSON instead of a string coming back, but I got a 4005 error. The offset integer for the variable portion was passed as a string in the GET request but as an integer in the text portion, so I
I love Karbon...but I’m really struggling with the efficiency of having to go through Triage, assign emails to My Week, and then go through them all over again in My Week, to sort them into the different timelines (This week, next week...).There has to be a better, more efficient way. The current workflow has me ignoring My Week completely.Help.
