When a comment is added to a task, the comment is automatically assigned to that task in the Timeline. However, there doesn’t seem to be a way to add additional timelines to that comment. In my specific scenario I have a comment in a task related to Q2-2023 estimated taxes. I want to be reminded about the contents of that comment when I review the Q3 and Q4 estimated tax Work Items, and maybe when I prepare the tax return after year end. It would be simple if I could add the comment to more Timelines. Otherwise, the only workaround is to remember to cut and paste the comment into another Work item, Task, or Contact timeline, correct?
Does anyone have individual clients set up as organizations? We have been operating fine with them as a contact until our recent integration with SuiteFiles. “Contacts” do not sync externally from Karbon, but Orgs do. Before we go through the whole list of our individual tax playing clients and make them into identical existing organizations, I would love to know if anyone has knowledge regarding this. Would a contact having the same name as an organization present any workflow issues? Otherwise for context our current setup is:Individual tax client = Contact - “Client - Individual Tax” Joint tax clients (individually, i.e. First, Last) = Contact - “Client” Joint tax clients (joint) = Org - “Client - Joint Tax” (both contacts from above linked to this org and work done at this level) Businesses - Org - “Client - Business entity type” Client Groups are created for anyone with more than one organization and we put all orgs and contacts under client group for visibility of work items, as
Hello everyone,New here :) Our firm is currently using Practice Ignition to import clients once they have signed their proposal. The issue we constantly have is emails sitting in our triage from clients who have not signed on with us yet, therefore there is no client in Karbon to attach them to yet. We could create one ahead of time, but I think Karbon would double up on contacts if we do that.Wondering if anyone has any solution to this so they don’t just have emails sitting in their triage that need to be added to a work or contact.Help would be much appreciated or any advice. Thanks!
I’m trying to start using time and budget entry in Karbon. We connected the Tsheets with Karbon and when we try to log time I need to choose a “service item” as a required field. In the drop down list are a few listed but not the ones I want. Where is this list coming from and where could I edit it?
Hi Karbon Community! Sending to Multiple People (being able to send a client request to more than one person) is in development but I had two questions I’d love some more information on: How many people do you need to send one request to? Does the number tend to be the same or are there circumstances where you would need to send the request to more or less people? Thank you!
I was just exploring the client export and import functions. We are part of the beta testing for billing in Karbon, and I have just signed up for the XPM integration as well. We need to do a fair bit of work with respect to updating our Karbon database, clients, organisations, groups, emails and addresses primarily, as XPM is our source of truth. I know we can do a bulk upload and send to Karbon to process for us if I need to. In the interim though, if I download a client list from Karbon Contacts (either All Contacts, People, Organisations or Client Group), make changes to that list but don't touch the Karbon identifier number where there is one, then import the same updated list, will this just overwrite the existing contact details to the new detail on the list, or totally create new contacts again. I am just after a quicker way to update our client lists, and obviously don't want to duplicate all the clients again if I modify the downloaded list, then reimport that list. I am hopin
We currently use Dext and have been for quite some time but we’re becoming more and more frustrated by the simple things it can’t do and lack of product development. Thought I’d crowd-source from the community what other options are out there! We’ve used HubDoc previously, and unfortunately there are many frustrating limitations with that as well (and also lack of product development) so that’s off the table for us as an option.A couple of others I’ve come across and will look at testing are Veryfi and AutoEntry by Sage. We’ve also been told the QBO receipt capture tool is being improved. I don’t believe it’s near what we would need at this stage, but if you currently use it I’d love to hear from you too!
A recent problem but I can no longer paste into emails on Karbon. I have tried Ctrl V, right clicking and selecting paste or paste as plain text, it just does nothing. Other Ctrl functions for copy, bold etc work fine and I can paste into comments on Karbon and systems outside of Karbon. Has anyone else experienced this or any advice how to fix? Thanks
I have cleared an email from Karbon no less than a dozen times. It keeps popping back up in my Triage….It’s not because I am being tagged or someone is replying to the email, it’s the same thread with all of the same info and it just won’t stay away. Its very frustrating. Thank you!
Hey Everyone, Our firm is having some difficulty determining where we should be looking to see outstanding work for our team. We are using some iteration of To-Do, My Week, and Work as each one of them some benefits as well as their shortfalls. To-DoThis is what we have everyone use as it has the ability to list all tasks at a granular level. Our work item set up isn’t task heavy. Anything that can be done in one sitting is listed as one task with multiple steps in the description. What we do not like about To-Do is that you cannot get a total time budget allocation for all tasks in a given time period nor is it guaranteed that they will all show up on the client profile as work completed for a client. Example would be small tasks that were assigned from emails and not attached to a work item are not visible as items that were completed for a client when we are assessing how much out of scope work we do for a client throughout the year. My Week We have not yet been confident enough in
I love Karbon...but I’m really struggling with the efficiency of having to go through Triage, assign emails to My Week, and then go through them all over again in My Week, to sort them into the different timelines (This week, next week...).There has to be a better, more efficient way. The current workflow has me ignoring My Week completely.Help.
Hi, I was wondering what’s the best way to save documents for a client? Should I be using Karbon and Google drive or can all the info be saved to Karbon in one place? I noticed you can attach documents to a client’s work item but after the work item is complete are those documents archived?
Hi, Is there a way to store links to the clients reports that they can easily access through their portal? I’m also still trying to understand what they see on their portal and if we can access it? Is there a way to send those report links without sending an email?
Situation: Seasonal tax preparer(s) who return each year should retain their assigned work/tasks for the clients/work assigned after restoring the seasonal employee from Archived status. When Archiving a User, the archived user has all of their tasks/work reassigned to another user in bulk and also would not retain their tasks/work for new annual work when it recurs in the subsequent year. My thought would be to create a Temporary User with a Dummy email which we could then assign all of the Archived Users tasks/work to. This would be a placeholder. Once the seasonal employee comes back we could then Archive the Temporary User, assigning all of the work back to the Seasonal employee. This would be done so we are not incurring a licensing fee for the seasonal employee and we do not have to then go back into each work item to reassign tasks/work each year.In Andi A’s Best Practice Tip she indicates as long as the Temporary User does not accept the invitation we would not be charged for the
Hi Karbon community & API users - The Karbon API is growing in popularity and use - we’re still a way away from that popularity impacting the speed and availability of the API, but we’re conscious that at some point we will need to address this and don’t want it to come as a shock to anyone. We’d love your thoughts on API rate limiting and performance - but for now the sorts of limits we’re proposing would be something like:10,000 requests per day per Karbon account/API application key a maximum of 60 requests per minuteWhere the limit is exceeded, we’ll respond with a different HTTP status code (429) and a header telling you when you can try again.Specific questions:Have you ever had to deal with API rate limiting before? Would these limits cause you issues? Are there behaviours in the API today that cause you to send more requests? Are there any performance (e.g. response speed) issues that impact your API use today? Many thanks,Stuart
Is anyone else having issues with their email (in this case Gmail) not syncing to Triage? It’s just after 4pm Pacific and emails from at least from roughly an hour ago (right around 3:15 pacific) haven’t been syncing into my triage. Is this a known issue? If not.. are there any fixes? I’ve already restarted my browser (Chrome)
