I wonder if anyone has developed a ZAP or API integration that will properly sync one way from Karbon to Google Contacts???? Thanks in advance!Tom

Importing contact information

I was just exploring the client export and import functions. We are part of the beta testing for billing in Karbon, and I have just signed up for the XPM integration as well. We need to do a fair bit of work with respect to updating our Karbon database, clients, organisations, groups, emails and addresses primarily, as XPM is our source of truth. I know we can do a bulk upload and send to Karbon to process for us if I need to. In the interim though, if I download a client list from Karbon Contacts (either All Contacts, People, Organisations or Client Group), make changes to that list but don't touch the Karbon identifier number where there is one, then import the same updated list, will this just overwrite the existing contact details to the new detail on the list, or totally create new contacts again. I am just after a quicker way to update our client lists, and obviously don't want to duplicate all the clients again if I modify the downloaded list, then reimport that list. I am hopin

Copying and pasting into Karbon

A recent problem but I can no longer paste into emails on Karbon. I have tried Ctrl V, right clicking and selecting paste or paste as plain text, it just does nothing. Other Ctrl functions for copy, bold etc work fine and I can paste into comments on Karbon and systems outside of Karbon. Has anyone else experienced this or any advice how to fix? Thanks

Best Practice for Seasonal Employees

Situation: Seasonal tax preparer(s) who return each year should retain their assigned work/tasks for the clients/work assigned after restoring the seasonal employee from Archived status.When Archiving a User, the archived user has all of their tasks/work reassigned to another user in bulk and also would not retain their tasks/work for new annual work when it recurs in the subsequent year. My thought would be to create a Temporary User with a Dummy email which we could then assign all of the Archived Users tasks/work to. This would be a placeholder. Once the seasonal employee comes back we could then Archive the Temporary User, assigning all of the work back to the Seasonal employee.This would be done so we are not incurring a licensing fee for the seasonal employee and we do not have to then go back into each work item to reassign tasks/work each year.In Andi A’s Best Practice Tip she indicates as long as the Temporary User does not accept the invitation we would not be charged for the

Sending Client Requests - How many people do you need to send one request to?

Hi Karbon Community! Sending to Multiple People (being able to send a client request to more than one person) is in development but I had two questions I’d love some more information on: How many people do you need to send one request to? Does the number tend to be the same or are there circumstances where you would need to send the request to more or less people? Thank you!

We had Karbon set up with reoccurring monthly work. But we did not start using Karbon yet. So we have a ton of past-due work projects that need to be deleted. How do you do that for mass work projects?

Triage not syncing? (May 10 2023)

Is anyone else having issues with their email (in this case Gmail) not syncing to Triage? It’s just after 4pm Pacific and emails from at least from roughly an hour ago (right around 3:15 pacific) haven’t been syncing into my triage. Is this a known issue? If not.. are there any fixes? I’ve already restarted my browser (Chrome)

Hi, Is there a way to store links to the clients reports that they can easily access through their portal? I’m also still trying to understand what they see on their portal and if we can access it? Is there a way to send those report links without sending an email?

Does anyone know how to retrieve a contact's BusinessCardKey through the API?

thanks all, hope tax season wasn’t too fraught this year pretty simple question! I’m hoping to use the BusinessCard endpoint to both GET and PUT contacts’ BusinessCards but I can’t for the life of me find the contacts’ associated “BusinessCardKey” anywhere doesn’t show up when I GET either all contacts or an individual contact with its ContactKey, so I dug a little deeper the Expand System Query Function ($expand) indicated in the odata uri specifications is returning this error:'{"error":{"code":"4002","message":"Query option \'Expand\' is not allowed. To allow it, set the \'AllowedQueryOptions\' property on EnableQueryAttribute or QueryValidationSettings."}}' when I run this python GET with the requests library:r = requests.get('https://api.karbonhq.com/v3/Contacts?$expand=BusinessCard', headers=ACCESS_HEADERS)(where ACCESS_HEADERS is an object containing my AccessKey, Authorization, and contact-type values) thanks again!Mike

Sending client emails from Task page - no client checklist needed

I would like to send an email and attachment from the Task and workflow area.In this case, I don’t need a client checklist or for it to change the status of the work. I want the client to be able to quickly forward a simple attachment to an advisor/lawyer.Can this be done?

Ignition + Karbon integration questions

We’re exploring integrating Karbon and Ignition again. Is there anyone who has the integration enabled and would be able to answer some questions from a colleague? She’s got some questions about how it works with regards to budgets, billing and fixed fee vs. time and materials work.Additionally, any best practices when integrating would be helpful! We’ve integrated before and weren’t diligent with contact names so caused lots of duplicates, and ended up disabling the integration. What else should we be aware of/limitations?

Bank Routing and Account numbers

For many things we do, we might need to enter a clients bank account and routing numbers in order to pay something (mostly taxes). We currently keep that data on a physical sheet in our office. Ofcourse, when someone is sick and is working from home, this becomes a problem.I’ve seen people recommend lastpass to store passwords, but it doesn’t seem to include things outside of passwords like this. So, how are people handling this? Our salesperson showed us the karbon security page https://karbonhq.com/security/ and said putting that information in a repeating task is actual secure. Since most logins are 2factor anyway, we have not been using Lastpass for passwords and instead just putting them in the Karbon task, but we haven’t yet moved account numbers or other things that wouldn’t have that 2factor authorization when using.

Ranking Clients

I am curious if others do this, utilize Karbon (or something else)…At one point we compiled a list of client qualities and then ranked clients on that list with a 1-10 point value. We are looking to hopefully “process-ify” this when we are fully using Karbon. We would hope to aggregate the client ranking score by employees who spend the most time on that client. We are trying to hone in on our more “ideal client” design and ensure we are not penalizing good clients by having too many “bad” clients on our books. Do you rank clients?Do you designate client “tiers” in Karbon (via client type, client group, etc.)?What is your ongoing frequency for this to ensure groups are adjusted properly?

Managing Emails in Work Timelines

Hello all, question RE managing work and timelines. I’m finding it easy at times to miss e-mails in work timelines that actually need to be actioned during the work process. Particularly where there are multiple automatic e-mails and reminders it’s hard at times to pick out the important e-mails from the less important. I’ve tried the pinning option but find this is a few too many clicks when trying to sort triages and easily missed leading to important e-mails then not getting flagged. Is there a way others manage this that they could share, please?Thanks!Tom
