Hi Karbon Community,We have started doing some marketing, and I’m not sure that our marketing firm understands how to market for accounting firms. I’m looking for someone who will outline what we need to do to build a marketing engine.I’m curious if anyone is using a marketing firm that has really figured out how to market accounting/bookkeeping services.

Multi-select in TriageYou now have greater control when clearing items in bulk from Triage, with the ability to individually select and then bulk clear.Bulk clearing items by time grouping (i.e. ‘today’, ‘yesterday’, ‘October’, etc.) has been updated with the ability to hand-pick the exact items you want to clear using a multi select checkbox. For example, if you wanted to clear all items from October except two emails, you can select all items from October with one click, and then simply deselect the two emails (rather than having to individually clear each item from October, except the two emails). Add a note directly to My WeekAfter the successful roll out of My Week to all Karbon users, it has received a minor update. You can now create and assign a note directly from the ‘This Week’ section in My Week. It will automatically appear in your ‘This Week’.If you create a note from outside My Week, such as with the global + icon in the top right anywhere in the Karbon app, you will need
As my firm tries to transition from using the Todo to using My Week we’ve run into a pitfall: members with the most tasks/work items due are struggling to find a practical way to keep up with their work in the My Week format. It seems as though we’d have to go and change all of our Work Items to unique Work Types in order to somewhat minimize the clutter, but other than that we are at a loss. What is some advice on a seamless transition to My Week?
Here in the US, we have many of our partnerships and s-corp companies extended. I don’t see an easy way to handle this in Karbon other than going in and individually changing the due date on each work item.Has anyone else come up with a best practice for this or have any ideas about how to handle it?
Hi Everyone. A quick question regarding bookkeeping pricing. We are finding our current method inefficient, in terms of 1, actually calculating what the fee should be, and 2, trying to ensure the price is a true reflection of the work undertaken. We use GoProposal, and our fees are set up using the following line items:Invoice processing fee - Fee based on no. of invoices processed.Bank rec fee - A fee for reconciling the bank rec each month.VAT return fee - A fee for producing and submitting the return. Could anyone share how they price these services and any tips you have found when pricing bookkeeping? Thanks in advance.

We are always looking to improve our processes and I was wondering how other people handled printing client tasks. Ideally, we would be able to use Karbon as a tax organizer but with the number of hoops we have to go through to extract the information it isn’t ideal.Currently, if we want to use a client task as part of a workpaper, we have to take a screenshot/snip of the page, paste it into Word and print that to pdf. It is inefficient, time consuming and doing screenshots can increase the file size drastically. We don’t love any of the other options available to us for client organizers and if we could do it through Karbon it would be amazing.(Yes, we have sent this suggestion in to Karbon many times through the feature request)
We are basically 100% virtual, but I have struggled to figure out how to assess for the qualities we desire in staff during the interview process. It’s historically been easier to shape shape staff when they are in-person as they rub shoulders with other staff living out our culture.I think we have a pretty good interview guide (when followed, lol) that digs into people’s behaviors, but I would love to use some kind of assessment to figure out if someone is a team player, has empathy, etc.I’m curious if anyone has really nailed down part of all of the “Hire great remote staff” process and is willing to share.EDIT:Link to a draft interview guide: Office Staff
Earlier, I co-hosted an introductory webinar, specifically for our customers, about Karbon’s new document management release! We covered:How to connect your Document Management Systems to Karbon, using Dropbox as an example (OneDrive, SmartVault and other DMS integrations are coming soon) How Karbon can automate your file organization and backups| How to copy work data from Karbon, including emails, notes, and client tasks, to keep everything in sync with your DMSWe would love to hear what you think about document management in Karbon, as well as any questions or feedback you have. You can add your. thoughts right here in the comments below.
Its not unusual for me to have some micro task I need to look into this week, but it isn’t directly associated with a piece of work or an email that I can then have in My Week.I have created a To Do item assigned to myself with a for tomorrow, due end of week, but there’s no option to add it to My Week from that spot. I have to go to my To Dos, look for it, and THEn assign it to My Week.Anyone have a workaround that isn’t quite so labor intensive? Am I missing functionality somewhere?
We recently had a mini-meeting about managing your Triage and I was amazed at the number of people that don’t use the filter options in Triage to help you focus. During tax season I can come in from the weekend to over 200 triage items. Here are my best tips on how I use the filters to help get through the list quickly and address any urgent matters.First, your filter for triage is located in the upper-left corner of Triage. You can drop down and choose just email, @mentions, etc. See snipFilter to see just Email. Quickly skim the list and respond to any urgent items Respond to client emails that need an immediate response Respond to all emails that can be done quickly, 5 minutes or less Assign the emails that need a response, but will require more work to My Week Clear any emails that do not require you to do anything or respond Make sure you have tagged all emails to the client or work as needed Filter to see Mentions Quickly skim the list and respond to any urgent request
Has anyone implemented shared mailboxes in Karbon, even in a partial way?I know this is likely to be a new feature in a future release of Karbon but shared mailboxes are such an important part of our business processes that I really need to try and do something to include communications to and from shared mailboxes in our Karbon workflows now.So, for example I have created a Karbon account for one of our shared mailboxes, but when it is specified as the email address in the “From: Other Colleague” section of the sending settings of the client task the email appears to come from the assignee not the shared mailbox.

I’ve got an idea where when a work item hits a certain stage, such as:Books closed each month; Tax return in for review; Tax return ready for signature; etc. That an email automatically sends to the client.Currently for our month-end close work item, I’ve got a client task as the last section so that the bookkeeper can send an email to the client saying their books are now closed. On top of this, even if it’s not possible to automatically send this when the last internal task is completed, it would be awesome to send the notification but without an actual client task. More like an email being sent but associated with a specific work item. That way the client doesn’t need to login and mark off the task. I was looking through the API documentation to see if there’s a way to send an email but it doesn’t look like it. That might’ve worked because the email would be associated with the work item it’s being sent about to notify the client of a change in the work item status that they may wa
Hello.I’m trying to work out why work items are appearing in my My Week, when I have no involvement. I understand that when you re-assign all your tasks that you still remain on the ‘Work team’, but even if I remove myself from work team, the work still appears in my My Week. There are work items in my My Week that I have never had any tasks or emails assigned to me. The only way I can think I was involved as someone tagging me in a comment.Am I doing something wrong?

Updates to multi selectYou can now bulk select multiple items that are listed together in Triage or My Week with fewer clicks.Select the top item, hold Shift and select the bottom item, and all items in between will be selected too. In Triage, this means greater control with bulk-clearing, and in My Week, you now have more flexibility over how you plan and manage your work.Check out Karbon's other keyboard shortcuts here. Drag and dropLast week, we released Document Management and in this release, we’ve given you the ability to drag and drop files directly into Karbon.
