8879 - Karbon "Client Task"
Has anyone in the Karbon Community figured out a good method of sending a KBA encrypted 8879 via the Karbon client task? The firm I work for is finds the client task function very useful, and like most, we are trying to find ways to streamline our procedures and limit our tech stack when able. Any thoughts???
Account Analysis ideas?
Hi all! Our firm has been acquiring recent clients who need their books cleaned up quite a bit. We’re in the process of developing an accounting analysis process and am having a somewhat difficult time finding resources/inspiration. Does anyone have some thoughts/resources they’d like to share? Has anyone created their own account analysis template through Karbon?
Reducing template sections to one role
HiI was told during my Karbon template training not to mix tasks for different roles within the same section. Why is this?Some of our processes involve two colleagues working on one job at the same time, with the tasks often alternated between them. Each task is placed in its own section because the role has changed, resulting in a template with 50 or 60 sections, and each section contains one task. The template is therefore unwieldy and difficult to use. Why can't I create a single section with tasks for two different roles? It is possible to assign the work to a senior colleague in order to avoid confusion about ownership or accountability. Thanks!!!Best RegardsJessica Layson
Preview Pane for Triage?
Does anyone know if there is the possibility of a preview pane in Triage. Maybe where the most recent email is open so I don’t need to click to expand every single email. It would save clicks. Perhaps there is a setting I don’t know about that allows for a preview pane @Craig Lohman
Security over client tasks
Any ideas when client tasks will be made secure agian?The “magic link” is magic for anyone who has hacked into a client’s email account and wants unfetted access to the contents of a list. They can magically open and see any sensitive information we send them and see anything typed into the fields by a client that has not yet been completed.At least the old PIN system provided some protection.As far as I can see at the moment, we can no longer ask clients for sensitive information through the client tasks functions.I’d love to hear that I’m wrong.
Email window size
I know there’s probably a ton of HTML weirdness going on under the hood that I won’t even pretend to know about, but the size of the window when reading an email in Triage seems inconsistent and unpredictable, especially with emails that have large images.The window will expand to accommodate the entire image, then shrink back down to the height of maybe 8–10 text lines, which feels cramped.Other emails, usually newsletters with many paragraphs of text, will expand to scroll several pages and never shrink back down. I have to scroll all the way back up to reach the controls to clear or otherwise manage the email.As far as I can tell, there’s no way to expand or contract the window or predict when one email window will expand or contract. This can make managing Triage, especially from non-contacts, a bit of an unwelcome adventure.
This will be my first season with Karbon/Intuit Practice Management. I like that with Lacerte I can have my tax software tied into my projects. I am a bit concerned about using Intuit link to request client documents as the client page has links to TurboTax etc. Just send a bit weird. I know I can use client requests to get them info as well. Curious how you all would proceed. Use client request, for a more white label experience or Intuit Link which works allow for tracking of missing documents.
Refresh My Work Screen
We just started with Karbon one of my accountants finished her Sales Tax report and I can see that it went to the supervisor for review but I just logged in and it must have been already updated. She still sees it assigned to her. Is there a refresh button or process she can perform so she knows that things are updated when she looks at her Work?
Placeholders where does they came from
We have an issue when sending emails to client with client tasks or reminder. Our email template was setup with placeholder but how do we know what is the placeholder information. For now we use “preferred name” and “client name” but in both case it is using the company name so our email state Hello “company name” instead of the actual contact name. Is it a problem with the setup of the placeholders or with the way the contacts were setup?

Is there any way to reorder the columns in the List View mode of the Work View?
By default my list view has the columns ordered in the same order they’re listed in the filter list:Name, Client Name, Related Client Group, Status, etc.Is there any way to order these? For some of my saved views I’d like to have the fees and budget over towards the left more, among other things.I have tried to drag and drop but that doesn’t do anything.Thanks in advance.
What are some best practices for OneDrive integration?Our firm was excited to hear about the launch, but we haven't found a practical way to use it without making folders that directly correlate for each work item.Of course, some integrate naturally now, but not most. How have you been using it?
