Administrative tasks completed after tax return due date will make the overall work overdue (but return was filed timely)

Current process is provide clients with draft return (watermarked draft) to review, once approved they sign the efile signatures. The returns are then efiled, and after getting acceptance confirmations we upload the final copy of the returns (without draft watermark) to the client portal. I’ve set the due date for tax returns as the statutory due date, but some of the tasks included in the workflow might be completed AFTER the due date (waiting on acceptance from taxing authorities, providing client with final copy of the return, etc) which when marked as completed/done after the statutory due date will show the overall work as overdue and the reports/insights will show as such. I obviously do not want to change the due date because that is when the tax returns are due, but how are you guys tracking other administrative tasks that may occur after the tax return deadline? How do I change the Base Template in Repeating Work?

Can anyone help me with this? I’m getting a little frustrated.I guess what I’m trying to figure out is - when I take a basic template and customize it specifically for a client, and save the customized template… how do I update the repeating work to use that (new) customized template…. when originally I used the “standard” template - just to get the WORK in and repeating.Thanks,Cynthia

Sequence of Sections

When we add a new Section I would love to have the option to have it appear at the TOP of the list rather than the bottom. I know you can drag and drop the Section, but this is inconvenient to do in a work item with many sections. Has anyone requested this feature?

Can you customize the invoice number in Karbon to match my current invoicing sequence?

I’m looking to start invoicing in Karbon and realized that Karbon adjusted my invoice number to be KIN-1000 but I already have a numbering sequence that I’m following. Is it possible to make that update or do you just write the actual invoice number into the activity and notes of that invoice?

Does anyone know how to retrieve a contact's BusinessCardKey through the API?

thanks all, hope tax season wasn’t too fraught this year pretty simple question! I’m hoping to use the BusinessCard endpoint to both GET and PUT contacts’ BusinessCards but I can’t for the life of me find the contacts’ associated “BusinessCardKey” anywhere doesn’t show up when I GET either all contacts or an individual contact with its ContactKey, so I dug a little deeper the Expand System Query Function ($expand) indicated in the odata uri specifications is returning this error:'{"error":{"code":"4002","message":"Query option \'Expand\' is not allowed. To allow it, set the \'AllowedQueryOptions\' property on EnableQueryAttribute or QueryValidationSettings."}}' when I run this python GET with the requests library:r = requests.get('https://api.karbonhq.com/v3/Contacts?$expand=BusinessCard', headers=ACCESS_HEADERS)(where ACCESS_HEADERS is an object containing my AccessKey, Authorization, and contact-type values) thanks again!Mike

Downloading client uploads on client tasks

Does anyone know best practice for downloading client uploads on tasks. For example if a client uploads 6 separate image files of bank statements, I cannot drag and drop them, nor can I choose a ‘download all’ function like I can in an email.Is there a workaround or a planned upgrade to Karbon to fix this?

Adding Assigned Work to My Week

I would love when I am assigned a work project which then shows up in my triage to be able to then add it to my work week. That way I can take the final step to working out of my work week instead of living through filtered Work Projects in the “Work” tab. This would allow me to map out exactly what work I need to get done and when during my week. As well as make it easy to add these work items as time slots in my calendar. I like the My Week tab but as it is currently implemented is too limiting. During the tax season I am managing work projects not emails or notes which is what is currently in My Week.

Client Portal - Deadlines

Just a thought.Would it be great if, once the client had completed their tasks, the work item would show as completed for them and move into an “ongoing section” until the work item is fully complete.If more tasks are added, it would move back in to their “to do” list.Please make it happen as it would be awesome.ThanksP

Recruiting, assessing, and training remote staff -- who does it well?

We are basically 100% virtual, but I have struggled to figure out how to assess for the qualities we desire in staff during the interview process. It’s historically been easier to shape shape staff when they are in-person as they rub shoulders with other staff living out our culture.I think we have a pretty good interview guide (when followed, lol) that digs into people’s behaviors, but I would love to use some kind of assessment to figure out if someone is a team player, has empathy, etc.I’m curious if anyone has really nailed down part of all of the “Hire great remote staff” process and is willing to share.EDIT:Link to a draft interview guide: Office Staff

Drag and Drop from Karbon to Bill.com

I tried dragging and dropping the invoice attachment into Bill.com like I usually would from my Office 365 email, nothing happens. Bill.com recognizes that I'm trying to upload a file but it's unable to read it. Does anyone have this issue? And is there a way to do this from Karbon and not have to go out to outlook for this task?

Email Insights and Volume of Emails in Triage

I use Volume of Emails in Triage as a way to monitor if my team is getting through their daily traige. I really push the message that triage should be cleared out daily.Being a leader who tries to lead by example, I make sure that my traige is cleared daily -- with the exception of vacation, I make an effort to clear daily.So I go to check the leaderboard today and I find that I’m leading the pack on the number of emails in triage...92 emails! I can count cleared emails and I know that at no poinit this week have I had 92 emails in a day or even during the entire week. How is this metric being calculated and when is the data polled to update the Insight?

All of my subs have their own practices so not sure that adding them as a Karbon user is the best idea. How can I track work I’ve assigned to them in Karbon for my own purposes?

Placeholder in Work Names

Is it possible to add a placeholder (like <%client_name>) in a work template, so that when you assign work it automatically adds the placeholder to the work name? Example: Template Name: 1040 Individual Return <%client_name> Once work is assigned it becomes: 1040 Individual Return John Doe

Time entry/reporting

Hi all! I wonder how all of you are managing to pull hours out of Karbon to use for payroll? We use Gusto, and pay hourly, so the hours that we would have in Karbon would need to be used to feed payroll. Can you share your process or any best practices that would help us figure out the best path forward? It would have to include “non billable” time that is not connected to a client. Thanks!

Two things:1. I’m looking for information on managing my firms’ non-client matters.I know there is a video on setting up different Sales, HR, Finance, etc. Divisions and jobs out of that - that is the video/resources I’m interested in. (Note I’m not looking for “Effectively managing your firm’s internal operations” - this is a great webinar on setting OKRs and helping your practice grow by focusing on the right things)I am not not using the To-Dos very well - I'm not triaging my email to “trust myself” to go into To-Dos as there is a lot there to clean out - how do you manage with this?(Also I know there is a good video on this as well - if someone could share that would be amazing).
