Bulk creating work

Hi,I am trying out bulk creation of work for the first time. However, if I search for a particular contact, the checkbox to select them isn’t available. The only way I can select them is by navigating through the pages in alphabetical order. This is obviously a waste of time as we have 1000s contacts.Has anyone found an easier way?Thanks!
