Karbon and peers, Currently, I understand there is no central place for reporting bugs of Karbon system. I only know the place to request new features. However, for existing features, if there is a bug (e.g. below), I would strongly a place either in this community of somewhere else for the users to report. I hope all the bugs can taken care by the development team of Karbon serious and timely and trackable. Can other peers echo this idea? The reason is simple. Client Group: When a client is added to two or more client group. When we do the filering of work by client group, the work of the client only appear when you filter the first client group. However, when you filter other client groups where the client is a member, that work won’t appear.
Dear Karbon Developer and Community, I raised following quite a while ago, but nothing happened yet. I hope these small but painful issues can be quickly addressed:Capacity Hour and utilisation rate: Currently, Karbon doesn’t consider the new employee work start date and Leaving employee’s work stop date in calculation of capacity hours and utilisation rate. Can this be fixed? As this is not a feature but simply a bug fixing, I have to raise this here again. In work insights, the date filter is only by month, but no date range option, it is really painful not able to select a data range when we need to look at certain period, like half-year, one year etc. I know we can approach karbon to get the data, however, that will be in-efficiency to both Karbon and users. Again, this is not a new feature, I have to request here.Anyone agree can echo here, so that hopefully Karbon to fix them quickly?
Dear karbon and peers, Currently, the insights are all work based, not task based. This is not working and not making insights helpful in real world team management. Work consisted of a lot of tasks completed by different team members. their performance on meeting deadline etc. are all task based, rather than work based. Accounting firm ‘s team consisted different level of staff and normaly the work in charges are senior team members, for those supporting staff and junior team members, they are not work in-charge, their performance is mainly based on the data of task rather than the work. I trust a bookkeeper firm may has less feeling of this since they are most time contractor based and all the team member does the same work. But for a proper accounting firm, we have a vertical team (event it is flattened, we still have 2-3 levels, partner, manager/incharge/ preparer. With current insights, we only can see the performance result of work assignee (normally in-charge or manager), but
I am wondering if other peers have the same feeling that the it is not convenient to locate and find the past emails, communications, notes easily. I am wondering it will be good if following can happen:Current search doesn’t show up the comments, but comments is now a very important communication internally Karbon encourage to replace emails for internal communication, so the search should cover comments to enable us to find past comments easily. When we search something, Initially, it should show up all the results no matter it is email, note, work or comments. the tab for emails, notes etc. can still be there, but it will serve as filter function.
Dear peer/Karbon specialist, I believe following are common in a firm practice environment. What is the best way to do that in Karbon? When we have a firm wide/team wide work (most of times, it is internal work) for all firm staff or team members, for example, I request all team member to complete same task, how should I setup this? Work duplication: How can I duplicate a work of one client to another client? I only see duplicate option for work template, but didn’t se duplicate work option for work? Anyway to do that? Thanks.
We now encourage a lot to use comments for internal communication. There is an indicator in the pane to show how many staff can see the message. But when I click that, I cannot see which staff has the visibility.I am wondering, what is the quickest way to do that in current version of KARBON? And quickest way to remove those staff who is not required to be notified. and I would be happy to see if this feature can be added directly to show the staff name when I click on the visibility number. I am wondering if other peer firm may have the same need.
Can Karbon add the date range to any date range like what we can select in utilisation report in Karbon?Currently, we only has month to month for last 6 months, but if we do the performance tracking on a half-year or annual period, we to manual add up and calculate. This should be a simple thing for Karbon to improve. Thanks,Mike
I am not sure how peer firm use work template to set up works in Karbon. I noted that it can be disaster if there is no clear requirement and stricter supervision/check on this. We suppose to use Karbon to save time, but it ended up we need to spend more time on check and set up workflow/requirements to setup work. This is awkward situation. I hope to see other’s experience. Why I am saying this? Because:Though there are a lot work templates there, but each of them need a lot of effort to tailor to suit the firm’s own situation. Most of time, it is not worth using the template as it will be more easier to setup our own. We have 50 type of works, don’t ask my why, as if you want to standardise work flow, you have to identify and breakdown the work types, take tax compliance work as an example, we need separate work template for individual income tax return, return not necessary, Company tax return, Trust tax return, BAS, IAS, FBT returns, Payroll tax returns, TPAR return, annual accou
I really want to use insights to track the on-time work completion rate for each of the staff in certain period, any one to share which statistics in the “insights” is good for this? It is frustrating that there is no “within date range” option (similar to the one available in utilisation interface” in the time period drop down list. Can Karon friend please add this tiny thing in, or other peers please share if I missed anything? Thanks for help.
When it comes to time charging against a specific work, the role available for selection in the drop down list should be limited to the role pre-set in the work. Same concept should be applied to the task types as well when charge the time to a work. This way will save time of staff to select from a long list with irelevant items, and most importantly, it will prevent staffs from mistakenly selecting wrong role etc.
In Karbon, for work(/job) level, there is only only work assignee who is supposed to be a job in-charge. However, in accounting firm, due to the compulsory requirement of professional code, each piece of professional work require an engagement manager as well as an engagement leader (normally the partner). There is nowhere to put these two role in. I know there is so called “client owner” and “client manager” under client contact card. However, these two to me are only for client level, rather than work level concept. Since 1) the client owner and client manager are more for relationship purpose, rather than the professional work role. 2) most important, in my firm, one client may have different type of work, for example, tax service and accounting service may have different work managers, one client manager does not cover both at all. How are you guys or KARBON expert suggest on this? Only get-around I found is to setup a colleague role called “work manager” and “work leader”, however
