Updating Standard Billable Rate by Role for new financial year

We have the following roles, which all have a Standard Billable Rate and this is the rate that is used for time entries and budget estimates.Accountant Bookkeeper Manager Partner Senior Accountant Senior Bookkeeper SupervisorFrom 1 Jul 2023, these rates will change (increase).If we increase these existing roles in Settings, my understanding is that this will apply across all time entries and budget estimates, for all time.This is not what we desire.My workaround (in my head), is to change the names of the above e.g. Accountant - 2023 FY etc and create new roles e.g. Accountant - 2024 FY with the new rate.Is there any better way than this?We’re going to end up with lots and lots of roles that are no longer relevant (I don’t believe we could delete these at any stage in the future, without impacting prior years’ budgets/time entries/billing realisation), so not ideal…Anything I’ve missed or better workarounds? 🙂

#2023inKarbon vs #2022inKarbon - last year's was way better

Hey @Lachlan Macindoe,I must admit, I way preferred the way #2022inKarbon statistics and summary were presented compared to the #2023inKarbon. I think 2020 and 2021 was more similar to 2022 as well.On a scroll page, no summary to share, no comparison to the average user 😢If we can’t get the same for 2023, can we go back to the old way in 2024? It would also be interesting to see this year vs last year on the summary.Thank you

When I add an email address to a Contact it turns off sharing for me only

All of my colleagues and I have email sharing turned on.If I add a second email address to a Contact, it automatically turns on sharing for that email address, for all of my colleagues, but not me.If I try and manually turn on email sharing for that email address, it doesn’t work (e.g. I refresh and it shows me as not sharing).Anybody else had that happen?

If a client changes email addresses - do you delete the email or leave it there for historical purposes?

If a client has an email address (A) and then changes to a new email address (B) and asks you to use that one going forward - what do you do in Karbon?I like to encourage the saving of all email addresses that we correspond with (i.e. real people, not necessarily email addresses from auto-generated emails).We can delete the email address A, which reduces the risk of it being used in the future, when it shouldn’t. But then it’ll look like it’s an email address we haven’t saved (and we have no way of knowing why, so may save it again in future).If I keep the email address, how can I show it shouldn’t be used?

How many Work Statuses (Sub-statuses) do you have?

We have…Planned: 3 sub-statusesReady to Start: 1 sub-statusesIn Progress: 7 sub-statusesWaiting: 8 sub-statusesCompleted: 2 sub-statusesTotal - 21 sub-statuses4 of these are very unique, relate to Sales Work Type only.Our Annual Compliance/Tax Return Work Types use almost all of these, and then other types of work use only a few.Sometimes I want to add more but wonder if that’s doing us a disservice, it also makes filtering difficult.How many do you do? (AU/NZ Weetbix reference)

Issue with $ not showing on time entries added to Work item post-Completed

Posting to warn others who may be unknowingly experiencing the same issue.. and because I wasn’t able to start a chat with Karbon Support like I usually can 🤔 so have had to email them instead.We're encountering a bug where time we add to a completed job is being added fine in terms of mins, but is showing 0.00 for dollars 😭 Hard-refresh and incognito aren’t helping.My colleague first alerted me to the issue and I was able to replicate it below:Switching from Completed to not completed and back to Completed fixes the $ issue.. but is obviously not something we want to need to do for things to work as they should 😢

Karbon Practice Intelligence: Field that should be available is not available for use in a measure

Per this article: https://help.karbonhq.com/en/articles/6524704-kpi-table-and-column-names BUDGETED_COST The budgeted cost for a work item. is an available field in table: WORK_ITEM_DETAILSWhen I try and create a measure in that table, I can’t use the field BUDGETED_COST.Anybody know how to resolve?

Non-Billable Time has a massive flaw in Karbon

If you have a Task Type that is Non-Billable, Karbon only half treats it correctly.On an individual line item, Karbon will calculate the Actual/Remaining correctly ($0 rate), but then they will total it using a normal rate, which means the totals don’t even add up (see below).This also screws the Budget/Actual/Remaining as it can show as over-budget, but its including Non-Billable time.I understand the concept of Cost vs Billable time, but if you are going to treat Actual as Cost, why even have a Non-Billable task type? It becomes useless.If Karbon wants to show Cost as well as Billable time, it could offer an additional column (Cost) as other time keeping software does, to do this. It shouldn’t be in Actual (or they should offer a total of the Billable time..)If you use Karbon Time, please ask Karbon to exclude Billable Time from Actual/Remaining, so the lines and totals agree and firms can properly compare Budget vs Billable time.

No.Should you immediately trust anybody and everybody you meet? Also no.How does Finn Kelly recruit?Only recruit people they already know and fully trust?Have an onerous recruitment process that establishes trust before an offer of employment is made?To be clear, if you are distrusting of someone, I agree you shouldn’t hire them, but realistically, I think you are recruiting people who you don’t know and don’t yet trust, more often than not.

How do you deal with Triage not showing whether or not someone has said something in a meeting response to you?

If you send a meeting invitation from Outlook to someone else using Outlook and they respond: Accept, Decline, Tentative and edit their response to add a message to their response, Triage doesn’t show the message, only their response.How do you deal with this?Do you open Outlook to check every meeting response before clearing it?Do you clear it without checking Outlook because you don’t care whether or not they added a message?Did you not know about this?

It says there are 31 Discussions (results) returned from my search.But when I scroll down I can’t see any Ideas.And if I filter by Ideas, it says there are 11 and doesn’t show any of them…

What is more important to those of you who track time? $ or Hours?

If you use timesheets to track time, what is more important to you?The $ amount of the Budget vs Actual or the Hours amount of the Budget vs Actual.If you don’t use $ or Rates, do you still have Roles? (So you wouldn’t want the Partner spending an hour on Work that they’d usually only spend 5 mins on, even if the Junior was underbudget by 55 mins)

Items not appearing in Triage when they should, coming in days later

Has anybody else experienced this recently?I've contacted support who are going to look into it, but wondered if others have experienced the same (and can provide more data points to support and engineering).Email 1:An email I turned Notify me On a few weeks ago. New responses were coming into my Triage for me to review and clear. On Monday I noticed the item was in my Triage, but there were new responses that had not come into my Triage before Monday, even though I'd cleared Triage (completely since those replies)Email 2:I was mentioned in an email conversation on Monday and cleared it.On Tuesday morning there was an email response on the conversation and the item didn't come into my Triage.On Wednesday morning my Triage, which had been 0 unread, changed to 1, but I didn't have a new item at the top of my Triage, I scrolled down and saw an unread item from Tuesday, that had only just appeared 🤔

Approving an invoice made Karbon reset the invoice

Hi @Dave George,Can you please assist here?I created an invoice this morning.Edited it to “remove” some lines (by tick > Carry).Total came to $2,142.25 (incl GST).I clicked Approve, then Export to Xero.I noticed on the Export and then on the Karbon Invoice, the total had changed to $3,715.25.It appears when I clicked Approve on the Invoice, Karbon went to the liberty of resetting it.Please see Audit Trail below, Green are events that did happen, Orange are events that didn’t/couldn’t possibly have happened (I can’t create an invoice twice, especially not 5 hours after creating it the first time).I raised it with Karbon Support who (obviously without reading my message) asked me to send logging and repeat the actions. I can’t repeat the actions and I don’t have time to be redoing an invoice multiple times.Can Karbon please reinstate the invoice I created and approved before it decided to do something impossible?Thank you
