Best Practice for Seasonal Employees

Situation: Seasonal tax preparer(s) who return each year should retain their assigned work/tasks for the clients/work assigned after restoring the seasonal employee from Archived status.When Archiving a User, the archived user has all of their tasks/work reassigned to another user in bulk and also would not retain their tasks/work for new annual work when it recurs in the subsequent year. My thought would be to create a Temporary User with a Dummy email which we could then assign all of the Archived Users tasks/work to. This would be a placeholder. Once the seasonal employee comes back we could then Archive the Temporary User, assigning all of the work back to the Seasonal employee.This would be done so we are not incurring a licensing fee for the seasonal employee and we do not have to then go back into each work item to reassign tasks/work each year.In Andi A’s Best Practice Tip she indicates as long as the Temporary User does not accept the invitation we would not be charged for the

How to delete mass work projects

We had Karbon set up with reoccurring monthly work. But we did not start using Karbon yet. So we have a ton of past-due work projects that need to be deleted. How do you do that for mass work projects?

API rate limiting questions

Hi Karbon community & API users - The Karbon API is growing in popularity and use - we’re still a way away from that popularity impacting the speed and availability of the API, but we’re conscious that at some point we will need to address this and don’t want it to come as a shock to anyone.We’d love your thoughts on API rate limiting and performance - but for now the sorts of limits we’re proposing would be something like:10,000 requests per day per Karbon account/API application key a maximum of 60 requests per minuteWhere the limit is exceeded, we’ll respond with a different HTTP status code (429) and a header telling you when you can try again.Specific questions:Have you ever had to deal with API rate limiting before? Would these limits cause you issues? Are there behaviours in the API today that cause you to send more requests? Are there any performance (e.g. response speed) issues that impact your API use today?Many thanks,Stuart

Managing Emails in Work Timelines

Hello all, question RE managing work and timelines. I’m finding it easy at times to miss e-mails in work timelines that actually need to be actioned during the work process. Particularly where there are multiple automatic e-mails and reminders it’s hard at times to pick out the important e-mails from the less important. I’ve tried the pinning option but find this is a few too many clicks when trying to sort triages and easily missed leading to important e-mails then not getting flagged. Is there a way others manage this that they could share, please?Thanks!Tom

Links to open document directly into a desktop app

Hi EveryoneI am trying to insert a link to a spreadsheet (or word doc) which is held in SharePoint/Onedrive, into a work item note. Thats easy enough, however when clicked it opens the document into the Web Version of the app and I want to open the link into the Desktop app (ie Excel).Is there a way, or workaround, to make this happen?Thanks in advanceAdam 🦩

email to work

have repeat payroll jobs set up. when an email comes in you want to allocate it to the correct work, but because it is a repeat job, and not due for a couple of weeks, it brings up all the payrolls for that jobs that span the next 3 months, and without making it ready to start, how do you know which is the correct month you are allocating it to, as there are no dates in this area, it just says that the work is planned

Modifying an existing automated email in Client Task

Hi Everyone,I’m sure this is easy, but as a new Karbon user, who the Karbon Academy designates an “Expert”, I cannot find a way to get an email, that is a template in a Client Task, to be permanently changed. Someone last year put the phrase, ‘2021 business tax return...” and each time I have to go in and remove 2021...EACH time! Can someone give me a “how-to”?Thank you for this!
