How to Create a Task and Add it to My Week

Its not unusual for me to have some micro task I need to look into this week, but it isn’t directly associated with a piece of work or an email that I can then have in My Week.I have created a To Do item assigned to myself with a for tomorrow, due end of week, but there’s no option to add it to My Week from that spot. I have to go to my To Dos, look for it, and THEn assign it to My Week.Anyone have a workaround that isn’t quite so labor intensive? Am I missing functionality somewhere?

Work in My Week when no tasks assigned

Hello.I’m trying to work out why work items are appearing in my My Week, when I have no involvement. I understand that when you re-assign all your tasks that you still remain on the ‘Work team’, but even if I remove myself from work team, the work still appears in my My Week.There are work items in my My Week that I have never had any tasks or emails assigned to me. The only way I can think I was involved as someone tagging me in a comment.Am I doing something wrong?

Contact cards

It would be useful if on the other contacts involved it had their role next to their name as set up on the contact card as there could be three of the same name because they have a different role in the company etc

Holiday time recording

Can i ask what do other practices do in terms of recording holidays on your timesheets, is it billable or unbillable. I am trying to work at getting a more accurate utilization value.

Handling of internal team work

The team is required to maintain their continuing education, for example QBO certifications. I feel like there needs to be a piece of work for each team member for their certification, but who is the client for that piece of work. If I create an internal client that the team has access to and can create work under, then all team members will have access to the emails/work for each other and their certifications. I’m not sure how I feel about that. There may also be other work that needs to be tracked that would go under that internal client.Does anyone have any ideas or can share how they are handling this?

Email window size

I know there’s probably a ton of HTML weirdness going on under the hood that I won’t even pretend to know about, but the size of the window when reading an email in Triage seems inconsistent and unpredictable, especially with emails that have large images.The window will expand to accommodate the entire image, then shrink back down to the height of maybe 8–10 text lines, which feels cramped.Other emails, usually newsletters with many paragraphs of text, will expand to scroll several pages and never shrink back down. I have to scroll all the way back up to reach the controls to clear or otherwise manage the email.As far as I can tell, there’s no way to expand or contract the window or predict when one email window will expand or contract. This can make managing Triage, especially from non-contacts, a bit of an unwelcome adventure.

Karbon make every time entry by default as billable - Need a fix

We’re trying to get a handle on our non-billable time, and we notice that Karbon counts 100% of the time as billable. After taking a closer look, we found that the timer has by default a task type of “none” which is billable - this is where the problem lies. There is no place where we can set up Karbon to memorize the last used option, so the timer will always jump back to “none”=billable. Is anyone using Karbon time to track billable time? If you do, how do you resolve this issue? It’s too big of a burden to ask the staff to choose every time the task manually.

Undo automators

We are having an issue with clients who are ticking off items on their checklist and then unticking them. The issue is the ticking off initially sets our automators to mark the work item as ready to start and the next internal task as ready to start.When client unticks the box the work still sits on Ready to Start instead of the status reverting back.I am having to check all our work at Ready to Start to see if the clients have done this (we have had 4 clients do this today upon sending of the checklists for their Activity Statement work.Not sure if anyone else has this issue with clients?

Document Management

Considering changing from Canopy. How does the document management work with client portal? Is this worth changing to from Canopy? I am only on the trial version and the one thing I do not like is that there is no folder options to sort files. I want to make sure if I make the investment its worth it. Has anyone else changed from canopy?

Taking care of an organization

Has anyone come up with a standard way to dictate when John & Jane Doe organizations are created? We have a few clients that are divorced (but where we’d still want to keep that information and former spouse ready and available) and others that alternate between MFJ and MFS yearly depending on tax savings. Workaround for recurring semi-monthly/monthly payroll jobs

For semi-monthly and monthly payroll jobs that are due X number of days before the end of the month (depending on how they are processed, ie: Gusto, ADP) how are you working with Karbon’s limited settings to have accurate due dates so that Payrolls are not missed?Since the end of the month fluctuates (28/29/30/31) and the payrolls are due X number of days before the end of the month + avoiding weekends, there is not an accurate way to set up these types of Payroll jobs in Karbon so that the due dates are an accurate reflection of when the Payroll actually needs to be processed. This is causing us to occasionally miss payrolls, especially when our team has to fill in for other team members who are out and when they are not familiar with when the clients payroll needs to be run.What are your workarounds for recurring jobs that are due at/near the end of the month, but aren’t always due on the same day of the month? Aside from setting up each Payroll job individually (non-recurring) or ad

Hi all! Our firm has been acquiring recent clients who need their books cleaned up quite a bit. Email Aliases and client logins for bookkeeping

We do a fair amount of bookkeeping and are looking to expand that part of our business.We discovered that if we create a distribution list, the email comes through to Karbon as one email on two people’s triage lists. We use this for department-level email management. If one person clears the email, it still stays on all other triage lists until cleared, so it’s a little cumbersome in that regard, however, any notes, comments, and assignments are visible to all when made by one.Next what we did is we created aliases in our system for that distribution list.Example: bookkeeping@ourcompany.com is a distribution list that gets sent to three of our staff.acme_stores_llc@onmicrosoft.ourcompany.com is an alias of bookkeeping@ourcompany.com so all emails sent to the first come through the second.We use this alias email when setting up online logins to that client’s online banking and vendor portals.What is really cool is that when we list this email address as one of the client’s email address
