Client Task Link Expiring

We have a few jobs checked in for the 2022 Financial year and clients uploading documents to the client task we have sent out for this but the link keeps expiring, does anyone know how to stop it from expiring so the client can always access that same task?

Hi @Ashleigh Muir! Welcome to the community.

I found this information in this help article.

30 days after the initial Client Task email is sent, the Client Tasks link will expire. If you've set up reminder emails (recommended), the link for your Client Tasks is extended for 60 days from when the reminder email is sent.

Does that help at all?

Agreed - our Organizers go our in early January but no one has docs, so all the links expire. We specifically do not send reminders.

Perhaps a “link to expire” date tied to the due date or completion date?

One thing I do know is that you can’t have an active link with two separate parties (so you can’t send Client Tasks to the taxpayer and then send the same request to the spouse) as the first link closes when you send that email to the second party.

The good news is that Karbon is developing some cool upgrades to client tasks where the client will be able to create a login (if they want, the old way will also still work), where they can see their client tasks and documents for as long as they like.

Check out this webinar. Skip to 13:35 to get to where they talk about the new client tasks.

Does that help at all?

It seems that the link within Client Tasks could at least re-open if we communicate through Client Tasks. It apparently does not, so my asking the Client a follow-up question generates the email to the client (why, if the client cannot access the link?), but he then cannot answer the question as the link has closed and then has to send a reply to the email notification.

Here’s hoping that next year will have these issues resolved, as this whole link closing issue has frustrated our clients and generated a grip of extra work to get them back into the system.
