Client Identifier - Only One Contact?

It appears I can only add a client identifier to one contact? Normally each couple for tax prep I assign a client code to (so two people per code), and I can’t do this in Karbon?

@LorilynWilson welcome to the community! I have run into this same issue in the past and just put the Client ID in the primary taxpayer’s Karbon account. That said, I would love this ability! There are often multiple accounts in Karbon where it would be ideal to have the same Client ID.

If you submit a feature request, I’ll vote!

Done! But not sure how to link it here.

@LorilynWilson I think it's the exception not the norm in software for an ID field to be allowed to be the same across two records. I'm not sure Karbon will allow it as it may cause some features not to work, if something relied on the ID and they could be the same across multiple 😢

Two workarounds, which may not be ideal:

Add a 1 and 2 to the end of the client ID, so you know they are the same "client", 1 of 2 and 2 of 2, and if you sort or filter, they'll always be beside each other.

Create a Client Group, add them both as members and give the Client Group the ID

I hope that helps 🙂
